A "friend" broke a serious trust boundary on the friendship/personal side of our relationship. I am also involved in some serious business stuff with this person. So should I call off the business deal or stick it out and smile through gritted teeth? My gut tells me to run...but I could really use the business deal to work out...

seems to be an ethical matter; a friend who screws you over may in fact be a business person who will screw you over.

It your intuition tells you to run the run. Most times you gut feeling is right. Trust is the one thing a relationship needs to survive be it personal or business. If you a serious about the business I am sure you can either do it on your own or find a more reparable person to do it with you. Good Luck!

I think it depends on his/her history. If they have never breached your trust before and you have had a long and previously good record with them, it may be a fluke. Everyone makes mistakes. However, if this has not been a long aquaintance I would beware and at least take strong safeguards for you and your business when writing up or signing any contracts. Ultimately you will have to trust yourself and your instincts. With no or little previous history to guide your decision or base it on, I would treat it as if you had "heard" this about a business partner whom you did not know and base your decision on what you would do in that case.

if your friend broke a trust boundary on the personal side, when it comes to money that friend will do it for sure. trust your gut feeling and run.

Listen to your intuition that's telling you to run! If you need the business deal to work out, find a reliable person to do business with. This person...not my idea of a friend...has already proven they are not trustworthy! RUN!!!!! Take your money with you!!!!!

YES! Business is cutthroat. Friendship should not be. If they cannot be trusted in a friendship, they definitely cannot in business.

i think that if it wouldnt put me into total bankruptcy, i would go with someone else.

business is different than friendship, but if you cant trust this person as a friend, you know without a doubt that you cant trust him with business.

go with your instincts
