I was a Republican most of my life and even voted for Bush in 2000, but when his Radical Right Wing Bible thumping base decided to be moral rulers I had to change party. If the Right were smart they would back off all the social wedge issues like stem cell, gay marriage, turning strippers into prostitutes, abortion, etc that normal US Citizens agree are less important than the economy, affordable health care or wars.

the simple fact is... the current "Republicans" (and I do use the term lightly) are only moral conservatives... they spend more than any democrat EVER HAS... the only difference is they just spend it on wars instead of welfare and education... still with no reguard to keeping the books straight...
and the thing that personally upsets me most about them... all these issues that they are pushing... they have pretty much already been decided one way or the other and they seem to be doing nothing more than grandstanding to the right on issues that won't change...
I mean... does it matter if you say you're against gay marriage or not if everyone knows how the vote will turn out if you hold one in congress? Aren't the just wasting taxpayer dollars by debating moral issues that are clearly no where near resolution?
I mean... why don't they just go the whole nine and make a bill declaring God supreme ruler of the U.S.? Granted, he's not going to come down and take the reigns, so what would it matter if you spent tons of time trying to pass the bill? It wouldn't... it would just be a waste of time...

I agree that the Republicans should lay off the social issues. I thought they were about fewer laws and less regulation. Why would you change parties for that reason though? There is no need to move to a party who favors socialism just because of a few "less important" details. Fiscally the Republicans are much more responsible than the Democrats and the "Bible thumpers" have not passed any laws that change the status of any of those things you mentioned. This leads me to believe you are either lying and never were a Republican or that you are just very ill-informed about what has happened with these issues since Bush took office. Might I also remind you it was Tipper and Al who fought the music industry and imposed censorship over one of the least important issues out there.
Hey Proud Republican!! You are wrong. The core of the party is not enforcing morals. The core of the party is smaller government, less government control. It's the Democrats who want more control over the people. They are using social programs and loose morals to lure people into the party and vote them into paower when they will then start enforcing their system of mores on the suckers who voted them into power.

nope! I think you should stay a Republican because there are already enough good democrats. If you really want the republican party to be crazy then you should leave. I had the choice to be a democrat I am a republican. I am a progressive and I hate the very conservative side. I am more of a liberal. Stay as a republican we need to take back the party and if you leave then it will be harder too.

Yeah. I am a republican because I believe in a limited federal government. That means keeping government out of the Boardroom as well as the Bedroom. These social conservatives want to use liberal, big government methods to achieve their socially conservative ends.

needless to say Democrats have not got a situation springing up great budget deficits the two, the present president is placing new archives. And the continuous advent of money by using the present administration is doing a astonishing activity of driving down wages too.

Krazy made a good point. I agree with what you are saying. I think the party needs to be taken back, at least on track with other ideals, more focused.
