Hi... I'm thinking buying a Hummer (H2 SUT or H3) and would like to know... how good it's to take it to the "sandy/dirty desert"...

That's the purpose to aquire this kind of vehicle... it will run over asphalt about 15% of all the it's miles!

Would it be a good choice?

If not, please, advice!

Tks, and have a nice day.

Actually, the question is....can you afford it?. 12 miles per gallon, $3 per gallon. The hummer is good, specially the H1, forget about the H3. The H3 is a chick SUV, not for off-roading. The H2 is a little bit more off-roading capable, but not intended to be. Now the H1, used by the army might fit your needs. Or try a Land Rover.

I dont think that Hummers are a good off road vehicle, At least the ones that are being retailed to the public. If you really want a off-road hummer try out Adesa auctions. They are retailing the real military Hummer and that is the ultimate Off-road Vehicle. No a/c but a good ride. GM has dressed up the Hummer too much and made it just a road vehicle.

The H2 and the H3 are based on Chevy truck chassis not on the actual Hummer platform. They aren't worth the money in my honest opinion. Not that there's anything wrong with the Chevy trucks.
