Is there anything more pathetic than aristocracy and monarchy?

Yes and it's called dictatorship.

Why are English common folk proud of adulterous royals and peerage for the elite?

They aren't.Heresay and misconception to generalize common people to think of them as such since they really have no power & connections to regard the royals in a scandalous manner. That's just not acceptable and ridiculous.

O.o

you do take issue with the English monarchy, its history and aristocracy dont you. Do I suspect a little of the green-eyed monster?

But aside from that.

Unlike the United States, the now United Kingdom has a rich and varied history of more than 200 years like you have. We've seen and been involved Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Norsemen, French Invasions, World Wars on our doorstep, the Renaissance, Civil War, the Crusades, and more conflict than you can shake your flagpole at.

We're proud of our history and what we've accomplished in that time. Obviously, some of us dont approve of the way our Royal Family have acted but in regards to your other question, the Church Of England has shaped our country and history, and it helps to define who we are. The Royals are also responsible for the Tower Of London and Buckingham Palace - big tourist attractions, helpful for our economy. Peerage for the elite? Well just about anyone can receive an MBE, OBE, CBE if you do something right. As for the titles of Lords etc, they're usually hereditary and you cant get them unless you're involved in the cash for peerages scandal. SCANDAL I put emphasis on. Read the UK newspapers we dont like that.

So hows about you stop poking into our history and trying to start arguments that I will inevitably answer with something you have no comeback to.

The majority of us are immensely proud of our history and what makes us who we are today. And maybe you should take a moment to consider that many Americans are decended from immigrants to the US from Europe - including England.

Because at least people don't lie to them - it's a monarchy, the King/Queen what-have-you has the ultimate choice, but like the Longest Living King right now - in Thailand - they barely ever intervene, and the rest of the process is left to the politicians - mostly are just figureheads for the political party.

Kind of like Bush is the figurehead of the Congress/House, except, in a precidency the choice is ALWAYS left to the president, and everythign must go through him. He intervenes a lot.

The lie thing - in Monarchy people KNOW the King/Queen has ultimate choice. In Democracy, they tell us that we do, when in reality we don't.

So, who is more foolish - those that live under a flag knowing it's meaning, or those lied to so that they chose to live under it?

At this point, I'll take door number two containing the royals! Bush has been the worst president I've ever seen. The great thing about the presidency is that we get a new choice every four years (thank God).

THE ANSWER IS REALLY SIMPLE:
EITHER COMMON FOLK ARE JUST KISSING ROYAL ***, OR THEY HAVEN'T CLUED IN TO THE FACT THAT COMMON FOLK ARE NOTHING MORE THAN EXPENDABLE COMMODITIES IN THE EYES OF ROYALTY.
