Not sure if I understand your question. It sounds like you have a Hi8 camcorder and you are trying to connect it using an S-video connection and that this gives you pictures but no sound.

Just so you know, an S-video connection is for video only and it does not have sound capability. You must connect audio using a different cable.

S-Video is better than composite (or NTSC) video, since S-video breaks composite video into two components: luminance and color. This lets the two signals be processed without interfering with each other, resulting in cleaner pictures. However, audio is not included as one of the signals and must be fed separately.

OK the yellow socket is a composite output - not S-video. It doesn't matter too much though.

If you don't have an audio out.I would say - break open the camcorder and find the speaker leads - hook them up to the line-in (or mic-in) on your sound card by soldering them to a 3.5mm jack. If there's only one speaker (mono) you'll have to be mindful that there's a different layout for mono and stereo jacks.

That camcorder is ancient so I wouldn't worry too much about busting it open.

"S-video" is a connector for the composite colour video signal. This signal doesn't include the sound, so, if you want to capture the sound too, you'll have to use a separate cable to connect a sound output from from your camcorder to the "Line In" sound input on your sound card. Then, when you start capturing, set the program you use for capture to record the sound from the "Line In" source on your sound card

Check the sound settings on your computer using 'control panel' in windows, or the menu at the top left on mac.
