My guess would be that they will evolve on some other planet or space colony before earthbound humans show any unique new characteristics, assuming we survive here long enough to adapt to the changes global warming is bringing.
If you mean "generation" as simply 22 +/- years or whatever constitutes the time span of one generation, that would be hard to guess. Present population growth will exceed what the ecologists call the biosphere's critical mass, or ability to support human society in its present form. Probably those who control the world's resources, namely the multinational coroporations, will find a way to thin out the population and ensure that they are the 'next (and only) generation'. Afterall, they don't really need humans to do the grunt work anymore, even though they're more fun to boss around than robots.
Maybe the 'next generation' is already amongst us but smart enough not to reveal themselves. If people kill each other over racial and religious differences, imagine what they'd do to someone they feared might be superior. Assuming the 'next generation' aren't degenerates. Come to think of it, maybe they are, and are already in charge.

Uh no, sorry. for the reason that no one has ever claimed that each and every physique could be gay, that premise is utter nonsense. variety of 10% of the inhabitants in the present day is gay; that still leaves ninety% to reproduce.
