I have posted a few questions on here and am surprised at the amount of people who correct or try to correct my English and try to impress me with there qualifications. If i want to rattle a few cages, when i realize that i,ve made a mistake i leave it in purpously ( see what i mean?) and you can bet your life that a load of rainmacks will come bouncing back with, " I,m a teacher"or, "I have qualifications" and all that rubbish. We know that as 98% of you who take the exams go to uni, I employ people from time to time and as soon as they start to tell me how to run my business then i, afraid that they have to go. As for my own spelling, it,s lousy but if i had been a good speller i,d probally be working in an office by now.

A badly worded question can be difficult to understand thereby causing a degree of frustration; sometimes by an unnecessary degree.

Also; depending on the context - detailing a qualification can go some way to giving weight to their answer. If I were a professor astrophysics (Which I'm not), then I would be qualified to answer a question about the solar system for example.

Obviously - it can also make them sound like a complete pillock if they do it in the wrong way - which is what I think that you are getting at.

So a teacher giving you a ticking off because you've typed "Your" instead of "you're" is bound to be irritating.

In essence, in this forum you need to be quite tolerant - which most people seem to forget.

We're not above spamming for points I guess... I have posted one question ('Do long fingernails affect violin playing?') and am surprised that there are people who clearly don't know what the hell they're talking about ('If it affects guitar playing, it affects violin playing' - they can't be compared this way, I'm a cellist so I know). I myself sometimes post my answer even though 10 other people have posted the same (correct) answer.

As for correcting English, it's unwarranted, and I'm sorry you or anyone else for that matter have to put up with this rubbish.

For some people, spelling and grammar are a major pet peeve. However, I agree with you and I don't think that's enough of a reason for them to correct you (if they do it poiltely, it's okay, but not in the 'smartass' manner) and be judgemental.

The reason that most of the people are acting like 'know-it-all's and smart asses is the fact that the world, the society we live in is full of pride (or is more likely... attempting at pride.) A lot of people are ordered by their ego, so they act like smart asses and give sarcastic answers in order to appear smarter, tougher, stronger etc. But what they don't understand is that this type of behaviour won't help them get remarked. No, this type of behaviour only pushes them back towards obscurity, because this behaviour is already part of the standards of typicality.
When they act like that (and most of the times it's just that: an act, a facade) it only makes them sound shallow, immature. It doesn't make them seem stronger or tougher, like they think it does. They only make me think they're tools. However, they do obtain what they want: they manage to cause anger.

So my advice is: simply ignore these types of people ordered by their egos and save your energy.

That made me smile.
I normally annoy people too but just for being honest. Christians seem to hate me! (Yeah I am gutted as you can imagine)
To be honest most people on here are nice and I have learnt an awful lot. Every once in a while a complete fool will turn up (like the one who suggested I stop using a photo in place of an avatar as I am asking for trouble and will ge what is coming to me when I p*ss the wrong bloke off. Honest to God he wrote that to me) but in the main people are OK
You carry on being controversial though and annoy the pompous ones, go on!

I agree with you. Why should anyone correct anyone's spelling for example when there really isn't any standard way of spelling English laid down in England as there is in France for spelling French. I wont tu start a muvement for speling Inglish the way yu wont tu!

Yeah, that must be annoying, having all your spelling, etc. criticised, especially when you don't think it's important. Thanks for the 2 points.
