This is one of those double-edged swords. We (the victims, the innocent) want to give an eye for an eye, but not suffer the consequences.
The law is corrupt. It is designed to assist the criminal and those that made it. The police are a noble force who have been stripped of their power by our leaders. If the chaos in the streets is anyone's fault, it is those who create the law, not enforce it. That should be made clear. The general public deserve protection, from hurt, from fear and we do not recieve it because criminals rule our country.
We should fight back. I have been attacked a few times by gangs of yobs and refuse to allow it to happen to anyone else. If a man breaks into my home I do what it takes to protect my family. If a man is being beaten in the streets, I will die to save him and fight the monsters punishing him. I fight these beasts with the same weapon they use, fear.
However, this in turn makes me a criminal. My lack of fear against these bullies and murderers makes me a threat to them, a man capable of defending myself giving the same punishement they dish out to me. But what right do I have to entertain the notion of anarchy.
The law is there to protect the innocent. If we start subverting it we may end up defending ourselves by attacking the criminals and in turn, we may end up attacking the innocents ourselves. Law protects from the destruction of anarchy. What is required however, are laws to be rewritten to portect us more and the innocent to have the courage to face these monsters head on, without fear.

It's been done in the past and only led to more crime! Either some vigilantes attacked the wrong people or else they got attacked as a result! No i don't think it should be up to the people to do the Police job because it would lead to total anarchy. Having said that ... British magazine Take a Break has formed a mum's army fighting in a peaceful and legal manner yobs, drug deales etc. Some of them have amazing stories to tell, and many of them have achieved what they set out to do. So mybe that's the answer. It would help if Police actually lifted offenders off the streets, not released them immediately following closed doors deals due to grassin someone else though!

No, you'd probably get your face smashed in. Vigilante justice went out with the Old West. If you want to do anything, help empower the police.

It may work for a while, but what do you do when one of your family members does something wrong? Then you are between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, you have your family, and on the other, you have your moral authority.
The answer is no, unless your life is in immediate danger.

I don't think it would work cos there isn't anyone in the world who hasn't done some sort of illegal act - there is no such thing as a law abiding citizen - so you'd be up for a beating just as much as anyone else.

Great idea but the law protects the criminal nowadays, not the victim. Have you seen the news lately? 2 more young men have been killed this week just for protecting their families. :-( I wish it could be changed

this would work if only criminals weren't the bullies of society, you would have to be able to defend yourself or else you would be screwed
