In an anthropological context, a Pygmy is specifically a member of one of the hunter-gatherer people living in equatorial rainforests characterised by their short height (below 1.5 metres, or 4.5 feet, on average).
Pygmies are found throughout central Africa, with smaller numbers in south-east Asia (see Negrito). Members of so-called Pygmy groups often consider the term derogatory, instead preferring to be called by the name of their ethnic group (e.g., Baka, Mbuti).

The most closely studied group are the Mbuti of the Ituri Rainforest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which were the subject of the study The Forest People (1962) by Colin Turnbull. Among the other African groups are the Aka, BaBenzelé, Baka, Binga, Efé, Twa, and Wochua. In the Central African Republic, at least, the term Bayaka is preferred to Pygmy, as it refers to the people and not only to their stature.

Among the Asian groups are the Agta and the Batak (in the Philippines), the Semang (on the Malay Peninsula) and the residents of the Andaman Islands.

there is no such thing as race. race is a social construct.

i'll assume you mean "smallest known ethnic group in the world"

i'm afraid there's really no way to answer that question definitively. this is because there are so many different ways to define an ethnic group. there are certain factors which are used - religion, appearance, language, geographic location. but people can be part of one very small and specific ethnic group while at the same time being part of a larger, broader ethnic group (for example, Sicilians and Italians, or Austrians and Germans, or Swedes and Nordic peoples, or Texans and Americans, or Gujuratis and Indians, or Miaos and Chinese. This list goes on and on)

However, there are some very still some very small language groups still on earth - usually in places which are very undeveloped today, such as in the heart of the jungles of South America, Africa, and Asia. There are some langauges which are only spoken by a few hundred people today. Those could probably be considered the world's smallest ethnic groups. (Sorry, I but dont know which one is the smallest)

There are only three races in the world: Mongoloid, Caucasoid, and *******. They are probably equally populous.

If you are asking what is the least populous human population that differentiates itself from other populations by culture or biology, I would have to guess either the !Kung San of Africa, or in the Americas, whichever American Indian nation has the least number of recognized members (maybe the Ojibwe in Minnesota or the Umatilla in Oregon?)

the smallest known humans were the hibians, who lived in northern scotland until the end of the eleventh century. they stood just under three feet tall. and were nomadic people. they moved about in the warm months and in the winter months they would settle in a wooded area for about three months and then would move again as soon as the weather warmed up. unfortunately, they were mistaken for rabbits by robert the bruce who ordered his men to eradicate them. by the time bobby realized his mistake, there were only about sixty to eighty of them left. most of them too old to reproduce and they gradually died out , the last one living until 1207 a.d. there is a monument to them in hanley square in glasgow. the town of hibbing minnesota was named for them. there is also a monument for them there in the parking lot of the local walmart. this is all the information i have on them. hope it helps.
