nothing. They're not the same as the USSR was back during the cold war. China doesn't threaten us on the battlefield. They threaten us in economics. Since they've come to embrace capitalism, they're the next frontier as far as economic development goes. Businesses from all over the world are trying for a spot to get Chinese dollars. As a result China, and the businesses opening there, will flourish.

Besides, haven't you noticed, China is already a world power.

Yes it is a superpower. But it is still in a learning stage in comparison to what the US is.

I'm not saying the US is perfect, and it is far from it. However with superpower status there are a lot of responsibilities with it too. For instance, you have a greater responsibility as an example to other nations, a greater responsibility in the UN and also in other organisations such as WTO. As a leading power, you have to set your own country in order before you can do so in other countries. So this means improving education, per capita incomes, getting people out of poverty, improving the health system, infrastructure.

There are issues with corruption, widening distribution of wealth gap, lack of religious rights, freedom of speech, transparency etc. These will come in time as the country becomes wealthier, and the leaders do something about all these problems.

It also needs to get involved in international politics. China's stance is always to not criticise others' internal affairs, which is why it can do business with countries with poor human rights records or that are corrupt. The great thing about the international community as a collective, with the assistance of NGO's (non govt organisations) is that they can act as a conscience, to influence governments to protect its citizens, to free political prisoners, to make sure that various international conventions on various issues such as environment, UN convention on torture, womens rights, etc are enforced. And its political and economic might gives it that ability to be an influence of good.

I look forward to the day when China can be that voice. It has the enviable position of not being anyone's enemy. There is a lot of distrust of the West, and in particular the US with its meddling in other countries, resulting in the arming of tyrants (eg Saddam Hussein), its apparent biasedness against the Muslim world (in particular Israel vs the rest of the Middle East) and the whole Iraq issue to name a few. There are enough countries that don't like the US that I'm sure they would side with China. But China is still an infant superpower and it will have to deal with its own domestic problems first otherwise there will be many accusing China of double standards.

Communism in itself is not a bad thing as long as it can fix corruption and lack of transparency, and ensure that the rights of its citizens are protected. But I'm sure the day will come.

They only got rolling on the road to success as their policies became radically more capitalisitc.
If you think the US did a poor job as the worlds Superpower, (and there is an argument for that), wait until China is center stage!
There will be all of the international policy interference that the US engaged in, but NONE of the global benevolence.
You are on your own for Tsunami's, Hurricanes, earthquakes, economic support, etc. unless it suits them personally otherwise.

The US has gone a trillion dollars into debt to Communist China to afford Mr. Bush's Iraq war and to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. You have to act rationally if you want to have a chance of success in the world. Ths US has not acted rationally, either the government, nor the public for electing it. The consequences are inevitable--China rises while the US declines. Thats the price of Mr. Bush's presidency and the stupidity of the people who voted for him.

Far as I know, there is no problems between China and US. How has their communism been successful? There is no true one doctrine for any country anymore. Yeah, they call themselves communist but are they?

i need to be incorrect with all i'm approximately to declare, yet in spite of this, i'm Mexican, so I surely have my very very own politics issues: China dictating international coverage may be the logical element to ensue while they grow to be The Superpower... with a huge IF, i think of. because of the fact we are able to anticipate an economic and politic warfare in a low point, based of direction of the chinese language ideological (or political, meaning by utilising imposition) enhance, because it befell with the U.S. while all individuals weren't born yet. that should bring about yet yet another chilly warfare. might that warfare boost into finished aggression? we won't tell, countless issues can ensue in between. What i do no longer comprehend is the incredible meaning individuals "aspirations of international etcetera". What do you propose aspirations? are not economic, politic and cultural impression in Bush's combat For Freedom international Order international domination sufficient?

When we are talking about the number of the army, China is superior, but when we talk about technologies, China is inferior. They are nuclear capable, but still lacks the capabilities to launch a long range missiles and they don't have defense shield to protect their territories from air strike.

Americans are making wars to control energy sources in the middle east and in the Caspian sea and to control Central Asia.
China is hungry for energy (oil, gas).
USA government invented the terrorism useful to have a "casus belli" to attack middle east and then Iran and other countries.
In future,Chinese communist party will divide itself in more parties...left and conservative or more parties.
Americans should make their own business.
