Leeches are hermaphrodites. Each leech possesses both male and female reproductive organs. There is some variation between different species of leech on the exact particulars of the sex act, some even displaying courtship rituals, and some implanting sperm hypodermically. In any case, the fertilized eggs are deposited in a cocoon, which is then stuck to different things, again depending on the species involved - some hide the cocoons in mud or stick them to objects in their environment, and some mothers stick the cocoons to themselves.
