Write her a letter, poem, what have you, expressing love, admiration and devotedness. Hire a violinist to come to your door who will play while you read what you wrote aloud. Tell her she's got 1/2 an hour to put on that outfit you bought for her, before the limo arrives to take you both away to dinner, not to return until the next day.
Dinner, wine or champagne, your full attention, kids at grandma's (if you have any), dancing or theatre, the honeymoon suite in a nice hotel. Have family straighten the house while you're away, so she doesn't have to face laundry the next day. Give her your full attention and for the love of Mike, shut the cell phone off.
If that fails, I'm with the fellow who said the Bosch hammer drill. Of course, all jokes aside, I'd prefer the dual action, sliding 10" cut compound miter saw, instead.

Be creative, give something from your heart, its not always the price of what something costs, as much as how much thought went into it.. u can give a woman a piece of jewelry, and just hand it to her and she'd be happy, but if u went the xtra mile to either think of a creative way to give it to her, or put an inscription on it, she would be in awwww.. so no matter what u do for your anniversary but alot of thought into it, thats what women love the most... something that comes from the heart, and makes her heart skip a beat..

jewelry is SOOO boring unless she's mad on it
Me - i'm so choosy no one EVER gives me jewellery or clothes and they are right. You should know a person's taste REAL REAL REAL well, tho with a long-time partner shouldn't be a prob.
I would suggest that you take her out shopping for lingery. Or why don't you just ask her if there's anything she'd really love to get? I know people who just DON'T like surprises.
whatever present you choose, there's one thing you could do to make her happy - buy a big bunch of flowers the night before, not necessarily roses, and shower her with petals in the morning

When my husband and I had been married for about 5 years. He got off work early and called me to make sure I was coming home ontime from my job. He said, I have something special planned for you. I walked in the door, he was wearing a white shirt, black pants, black tie. He had a white towel over his arm and said 'Right this way madam".
I sat down to a table with cut up cantelope on it. It was decorated beautifully with flowers and the house smelled DELISH! He said "This is only the beginning. Please step up to the master bath". . .
I walked in to a candle lit bathroom, a soft music tape playing ocean sounds and music and a beautifully scented bubble bath waiting for me. He said "Please relax and I will be back". I got in and he brought me a glass of my favorite wine. He said he would return when dinner was ready to be served.
When he returned, I literally was so relaxed I think I dosed a couple times. I got out, put on my robe and he led me to the dining room again.
There we had a candle lit dinner of Steak, baked potato, Salad and Strawberry Shortcake for dessert! Needless to say, this is SOOO Sexy for most women to have your man treat you like a queen!
We just celebrated our 16th anniversary on the 25th and and I think to this date that is my FAVORITE anniversary memory. I think that was a great gift. You can always give her something AT the dinner. Jewelry is usually a hit wth most women. A pretty new necklace or pair of earrings sitting at her place at the table?

Depends on what she is like really.
Some ideas
short Break somehwere romantic
Joint spa session
Moonlit horse and carriage ride
'adopt' an animal from an endangered species in her name (such as Black Rhino - almost extinct)
Have a rose named after her
arrange a portrait with an artist or photographer for you both

Go to a spa retreat for the night and get couples massages. Then have a nice dinner where you can give her the jewelry you bought her. If money is scarce, then cook a nice meal together and give each other massages.

A present should be all about her, a red letter day has so many options and its for your wife to choose so you cant loose.

Jewellery, perfume, a lovely dinner at a great restaurant then pour her a drink and pop up to your bedroom and light candles all round the room and sprinkle rose petals over the bed and enjoy
