trollhair, you could do the interiors warm grey and/or blue grey and it wouldnt show up so much dirt but would still look modern.

Angel M, light purple or violet could go well with burgandy and blue shades go well well in many subtle combinations.

Minimalist styles do not work for me when it comes to my living spaces, no matter how many shades of grey are painted on the walls. I know the clean lines and uncluttered space is a nice aesthetic in photographs, but I personally don't like the feeling of coming home to an office cubicle.

I'd feel as austere as my surroundings I'm afraid. I'd rather dig in, hobbit style, and build a house inside a mound of earth. Though unlike a hobbit's den it would have an enormous glass roof, a sun terrace, a big foresty garden with creeks.. Hmm. The house itself would not be visible through the tree cover. I think the best thing about a house, is for it to be comfortable and very much yourself. Had I been a doctor or architect I might like a state of the art flat, but as it is I'd much rather connect with earth.

It's fine and dandy when some other fool has to maintain the order, but I like a little chaos.
My dream house is a big old rambling farmhouse, probably in the Scottish borders (Liddesdale is lovely), with friends and family coming round to stay, a huge and inviting kitchen, Children laughing, a great local pub, and miles of open country to get lost within...
