Does it exist? If so, what is it?
If not, what is your definition of right and wrong, and why doesn't sin fit within your category of wrong?

Krissyinthesun,
You note that "Thou shalt not kill" has no limitations or specifications. However, your definition would include unintentional killing (stepping on a bug, etc.) as well as killing animals for food, plants for food, or in self-defense. Surely, there are SOME specifications - aren't there?

Yes, sin exists - it is when one passes the boundaries of what is considered "correct", however... Is it "correct" when people kill for their religion? I doubt God would be too pleased about all the killing in His name!!!
So I reckon sin has gotten all mixed up, nobody is sure what is right and wrong anymore, and thats why the world is going downhill!
Real sin is meaningfully harming someone, or killing. Everything else is pretty much petty sins, such as the rest listed in the 10 commandments. I think number 6 is pretty clear - and there are no conditions, like "except in my name"....
1-Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2-Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me,
3-Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4-Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5-Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6-Thou shalt not kill.
7-Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8-Thou shalt not steal.
9-Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10-Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

Anything George Bush does to America is sin.
Anything that feels good is sin.
Anything in Las Vegas is sin.
You can get rid of sin by confessing to any Catholic priest
and it only takes a few minutes. If you don't do the contrition
though the sin will come right back and you will go blind and
get hairy palms.

The baddie whale thing in Final Fantasy X that brought destruction to Spira. It came about because of people's greed, and the inabilities of the cities of Zanarkand and Bevelle, to get on.

Sin is anything that separates you from God. Most people are familiar with sins like murder, theft and adultery. But the Bible also talks about sins like pride, hate, selfishness and greed. Many people aren’t aware that loving anything more than God is sin.
It is important to understand that absolutely everyone is guilty of sin. The only person who ever lived without sinning is Jesus Christ. And it is important to understand that sin has a price tag. The price of sin is death. Jesus paid that price with his own life, so that you wouldn’t have to pay it with your own. Because Jesus died, your sins can be forgiven and you can experience freedom from sin

One's deed, which hurts his/her fellow being mentally and/or physically depending on what one does, is considered to be a Sin. Since it is, of course, is a wrong-doing it, regardless of its severity, could only be in the category of 'wrong'.
A deed with positive result acceptable for the purpose it is meant for, is normally be considered to be right.
A deed, with negative result unacceptable for the purpose it is meant for, is normally be considered to be wrong.
