I have a Morse 4300 sewing machine. I am completely new at this sewing thing, so I need a little help. I found a threading diagram and set it all up, and when I push the peddal down, it seems to sew in reverse, and with more threads per inch than is on the dial? When I hit the reverse button, it still goes in reverse, but the threads per inch seems normal. Is there a switch or something that I can fix this problem on my own?

Definitely look in the yellow pages for a quilt shop or sewing machine dealer (not a vacuum cleaner store).
Take the machine in. If it hasn't been cleaned in 2 yrs, pay to have it cleaned. Also ask the repairman to walk you through the basics. Our Bernina dealer actually offers sewing machine basics on any machine.
If you have a manual, you're going to just have to page through it, or have a friend help you figure it all out.
I do not recommend you just muddle through this, you could easily pop a belt or break the needle mechanics.

New Mom Sara ... check the white-button-looking with silver device on the very top on the left of your Morse Sewing Machine. That should be pressed all the way down. Hope this helps. If you can, find an instruction booklet.

i do not know the machine you have but it sounds like you got a setting wrong somewhere have you carefully looked at the dials have you got any in the wrong position is it a computer machine or an ordinary one if its computer look at the workshop manual on the screen they tend to be better than reading the book if this all fails go and do a google search for your machine on line they may have a help section and you can email for help good luck hope you solve the problem soon

Don't know this machine. Usually the button for reverse is on the column and can be pushed up to reverse. Some can be set to stay up. Maybe that is your problem. Check if it can be 'unstuck' or something like that.
