Courage is only being scared of something but doing it anyway. If you are not scared in the first place it doesn't take any courage to perform it.

Go and find something that terrifies you and go through with it. Could be the thought of handling a spider or eating snails. Love one and couldn't do the other - not saying which, though!

Doesn't have to be dare-devil you see!

I believe the proverb is "Temper" your courage with caution, meaning mind how you go! Try some activities with an element of risk, that you can do in a group of those more knowledgeable about it than you so it won't necessarily mean a tombstone over you if you fail: like rock climbing, abseiling, travelling in a hot air baloon (much more risky than many realise)...or spending the weekend looking after your sister's 2 yr old all alone, for that matter!

Courage is doing things without knowing the outcome and risking your life for that of others therefore there really is no way to do it with caution. Skydiving, bunge jumping etc is more of overcoming common fears than courage.

You can face your fears with caution in many ways but it is unlikely you can face them without risk. Fear has a life of it's own and to overcome it you must face it with determination, all necessary precaution and the knowledge that you could fail. The courage comes from trying in spite of that knowledge. The reward if you succeed is enormous.
