The largest organism in the world is a mushroom from basidiomycota. How do they find out that they are the same organism just by testing their DNA, since they might have reproduced asexually?

I think they discovered that all the 'individual' mushrooms had the same root systems, which meant that they were actually all part of the same organism. Same goes for the thousands of acres of aspens found on some Colorado mountainsides. And trees do reproduce sexually, otherwise.
