brevejunkie, actually the vast majority of babies on this planet do not wear diapers! Most babies in Asia, Africa and South America never wear diapers. My baby doesn't wear diapers very much. She's 3 months old. I included a link about Elimination Communication (aka infant potty training) below, which includes information on how other countries handle their children's elimination needs.
I have no idea if diapers hamper growth in male babies' genitals. I do know that plastic diapers are suspected to cause infertility in males later on in life. Please see my second link for information on that.

Actually penise and testicle growth is genetic and unless you are like the old chinese, where they used to bind women's ankles to keep their feet from growing, it shouldn't be a problem.
The diaper would have to be extremely tight and kept that way all the time for it to have an effect and the fact that you change the diaper regularly that would prevent that from happening.
So, just diaper as usual and your baby will be happy when he grows up to be a fine outstanding young man.

As for the growth of your child penis (lengh, width )
it is really genetic
you want to hear something personal and funny
I have 3 sons when they were babies (new born ) I notice that #1
penis was straight, 2- crooked to the left 3-to the right
I was able to notice because the were circumcised
now upon talking to sisters-in laws on my side on the family I find out that my bothers are just like them is it no funny you will think they will take after their father but no everything about my boys from look to the deep personals are on my side
so don't worry your child will be fine if you have concern about it just talk to his doc

I have never heard of anything like this befroe. Why would you think that a diaper could hamper your baby's growth? I think your baby is born with what they are gonna have and it has nothing to do with wearing a diaper.

I'm wondering if your son is going through the same thing mine has. My son looked completely "normal" at birth but then at about 3 months his penis looked as if it were hiding! So much so that we have to pull the skin back --and he's circumcised!
The doctor said that it was just that he had put on a lot of weight and he has a lot of fat in his pelvic area and she said he would grow out of it.
He's 6 months now and he has been stretching and slimming down a little and his penis isn't hiding so much anymore.

I don't mean to laugh, but all of us wore diapers. If that were the case, well, there would be no grown men with large members.
And no, the question isn't a sicko question, we parents worry about everything with our kids.

Question is not stupid at all you people are stupid who are saying so. I am also a mom of a baby boy .We are moms and we worry about our babies health and we have right to ask each and every question .
