No; for many people probably, but they aren't for everyone. Some people don't like kids. Some people choose not to have them so that they can be spontaneous and go places and do things that wouldn't be possible (or nearly as simple) if they had kids. Kids are expensive, if you are childless you can use that money on yourself and your partner. That extra cash not being spent on children can go to vacations, better cars, clothes, etc. which also make people happy. There are a lot of people that are very happy without children. For example, Jay Leno and his wife never had kids and they have had a long and happy marriage.

I don't think it is essential to a happy home. My husband and I are perfectly happy, and we don't have nor want children. I think a happy home comes from having to people that can communicate effectively and have the same goals and aspirations as each other. A happy home comes from two people working together in a partnership, which does not always require children.

I disagree. I'm a mom of two wonderful boys and I'm expecting a third little one in March. I cannot imagine my life without them. But I do not think children are essential to a happy home. I know plenty of people who have decided not to have children and they are perfectly happy and lead fulfilling lives.

i like children. but hate to have them as my own. children are under adult control so more depends on the adults hu control them
