The Gorilla for sure. I'm certain he'd have a knockout punch.
Gorillas have a strength equal to about 20 fully grown adult males (so a zoo keeper told me when I asked).
They have all the attributes of the bear, but they are pretty smart. It'd probably do some killer flying roundhouse as the bear charged and knock it out cold. Then it'd deliver its winning super move by beating its chest, screaming and smashing the prone bears head to pieces. I think the vegetarian gorilla would make an exception this time and eat the Bears brains as a sign of his dominace over Bears and all their kind. Cool.

I asked this one not so long ago and the consensus was hands down for the Grizzly. Apparently a Gorilla would weigh up to 400 lbs and the bear up to 1,500 lbs. So the bear would be pretty tough and powerful, plus they have 6 inch claws and a big snout full of sharp teeth which is ideal for biting gorillas.
Although I thought power isn't every thing, I know the Grizzly's fast but the Gorilla would be so much more cautious. If they were fighting around trees or an area with some higher ground the gorilla would get an advantage. If it manged to get on the bears back it could do some damage for sure (Chinese burn for instance).
Even so, I tend to think the bear would win 4 out of 5, you'd have to arrange some sort of test series to get to the truth!

Well, the Bear would win. Simply because it would be about 600lbs heavier than the gorrila. Also the bear is a naturally more aggresive animal. The gorilla does not know martial arts and how to do 'killer roundhouses' so forget what you saw in King Kong and dont believe some of the fantasitical anwers you've had. It would be a fight that was over with very quickly

Fully grown grizzly bears can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. Gorillas don't get that big. My money is on the grizzly, but a gorilla might outsmart a grizzly and scare it away with sheer aggression.

Griz easily. These guys can take done full grown moose. A gorilla just doesn't have the tools. Sure pointed canines but no claws and quite a bit smaller. Griz are far more aggressive as well. A gorilla will bluff but they are gnerally peaceful herbivores - very little actual fighting. Grizzly hunt and kill large game. They know how to fight and kill.

Seems like the The grizzly bear has a more powerful structure from the head down. The grizzley bear has to be more aggressive forging for food because they need it for winter hibernation, and they are meat eaters. The gorillas eat mostly vegetation and only seem to fight if they are threatened. So I think I would bet on the grizzly.

Grizzly have the instinct to kill and food is in their mind while the gorilla has the ability to scare any potential danger and a vegetarian in nature... So I say, the grizzly would have the upper hand as they almost have the same weight, but never the less it would be worth watching as four hands with fang is better than claws and fangs although some animal activist would not agree what you have in mind.

The grizzly, easily. They probably weigh twice as much. They have some nasty claws. They are powerful enough to take the head of a human or smaller bear with one swipe of a paw. They have done it.
Gorillas are all bluff and bluster. They scare people with their noise, and aggressive attitude.
Grizzlies sometimes fight to the death. Hungry males will kill an eat cubs if they can get by the mother.

Grizzly. I don't think people here appreciated how big the can get!!
Grizzly Bears reach weights of 180–680 kg (400–1,500 lb);
can run at speeds of up to 55 km/h (35 mph).
Silverback Gorillas: 12 year old adult males range in height from 165-175 cm (5 ft 5 in-5 ft 9 in), and in weight from 140-165 kg (310-365 lb).
Just no contest!!

Hi, I am a fight promoter and I frequently arrange inter- species events like the one you describe.
By an amazing coincidence I was idly looking at YAHOO! answers just at the right time.
I find, on looking at results over the last 8 years that it's approximately 50/50. Sometimes the bear wins, sometimes the gorilla.
