I want to get my ears pierced this week. I am most likely going to go get it done in a hospital were a nurse will pierce it with that 'gun' thing. Is this more painful than having it done with a needle or is it about the same? Does it hurt a lot?
Thanx

I had mine done as a baby, but I think that it will hurt just a little, some places will have 2 people do it at the same time so its only one pain. good luck

I'd advise to nót use a gun, I've tried getting my ears pierced 3 times now and the first 2 times, which were done with a gun, went horribly wrong. (They got rejected right away). Now I've had them pierced with a needle by a professional and they're doing great.
Agreed, for most people the gun is easiest and it ís a lot cheaper, but it's also very stress full for your skin. (Most are done improperly as well, no space for the swelling etc.)

And as for the pain? I haven't really noticed any difference between the gun and the needle. Just get it done properly and take care of them properly!!

You dont have to worry about a thing! You are going to the hospital to have it done by a nurse so she knows exactly what she is doing! The gun is much better to use than the needle! The needle is painful while the gun is painless! I had my ears pierced with the gun and it wasnt sore at all! Dont worry, you'll see it wont be sore!

Gun pierces tend to make crescent shaped holes, which can be difficult to heal, while needle pierces make round holes. The "cleaner" or more defined the edges of the hole are seem to play a role in the ease of healing, i.e., my gunned pierces have always been a pain to heal while the needle ones haven't had nearly the troubles.

I've found that gun pierces hurt more than do needle pierces, but pain is a very individual thing (your mileage may vary). Playing a role in that is the relative sharpness of what's being used to make the hole - the studs used in guns are not nearly as sharp as a piercing needle.

Good luck!

I got my ear pierced 1 year ago with a needle. It was OK. Pain? Just a bit. My friend got her ear pierced with a "gun" and then with a needle and she said it's painless with the needle! But, it's Ur choice!
However,u don't have to be scared, doesn't matter what u chose, it's not so bad, GO FOR IT!

Goood Luck!

Seriously, do hospitals do that? Wow, they've come a long way baby. My first piercing was with a needle, some ice and a string. I didn't get gangrene and have to amputate my ears so I think you're getting yourself all worked up over nothing. The gun is painless, it's the aftercare that YOU are responsible for that can cause problems.

the "gun" is better b/c first of all it is over with fast and second because needles hurt more. with the gun its just one time on ear side but with the needle u have to make a hole then put the earring in instead of having the gun pierce the ear with the earring

out of all the piercings i have my ear lobes were the most painful.. i always get mine done with a needle... but if you are getting it on ur ear lobes then do it with gun just get it over with ... dont go to a cheap place to save you money.. because it might cost more in the long run...

Go to any large mass retailer. They do it for free when you purchase the earrings from them.

Also any jewelry both in the mall that sells earrings does piercings as well.

It does hurt, kinda like a bee sting but quickly numbs. It tends to hurt more around 3 days after piercing when you sleep on the side of your head.
