Can't believe that no-one has said my favourite!!!
Mr. Benn!!! Although since read an interpretation about it, that makes me laugh.
Something about a middle aged man, using his work lunch hour to go to a shop where he plays cowboys and indians with another man.

Muffin the Mule - presented by Annette Mills
It was so simple and so entertaining for a young child
Made by Fred Tickner, a creator of Punch and Judy puppets, Muffin the Mule first trotted on to the TV screen in 1946 (when I was 3 years old) Annette Mills played the music and conversed with Muffin,

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons! I loved all the Gerry and Sylvia Anderson puppet dramas. I loved Fireball XL5
when I was 4 or 5 years old; then I loved Stingray. Not too crazy about Thunderbirds. Finally, Captain Scarlet was my favourite.
As to why, well it was sophisticated enough for my age group back then ( think I was about 9 or 10, not sure) and it just oozed with sex appeal and danger and mystery. Those five "Angels" - Symphony, Harmony, Melody, Rhapsody and ? Never could remember the fifth! - were totally cool. The plot was great.
That was the reason I liked FB XL5 and Stingray too. It was not just the adventures, but the indirect sexual attractions between Steve Zodiac and Venus, and Troy Tempest and Marina (Aqua Marina). Kids aren't supposed to be aware of such things, but they are subconciously. One reason Peter Pan is so popular is because it has such a strong but innocent sexual theme - the jealousy between Tinkerbell and Wendy and Peter's attraction to Wendy. Little girls naturally turn on the charm for older boys and men, especially their dads. It is learning how to be a girl. That's why Thunderbirds didn't work for me - too many male characters, too macho, and Lady Penelope was never that type!
B.T.W. I loved Zoonie from FBXL5 too! He was so sweet! I can still hear him saying: "On our way home! On our way home!" in that odd voice of his/hers!
Thanks for asking this question! I can't believe all this just gushed out! Even remembered their names (except for that poor last Angel!) Great fun! Lovely trip down Memory Lane - it has been too long!

When I was small there used to be a programme about a puppet called Hoppity and a little girl called Sarah Brown, I loved it and the song that went with it.
Sarah Brown had a toy as naughty can be.
He sings diddle e dum
He sings diddle e dee
He'll sing and he'll dance all over the floor
When he stands still then you wind him some more
Dear old Hoppity
Naughty Hoppity
There is no toy as naughty as he
Dear old Hoppity
Naughty Hoppity
He sings diddle e dum
He sings diddle e dee
I loved it because the toy was always getting into scrapes, a bit like me LOL. OMG I can't believe I can remember the words to the show theme music. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. x

The Muppet Show. That should be shown again for this generation to enjoy. Kids programmes these days have no educational values at all. No wonder kids are stupid.

The Great Space Coaster. Are you old enough to remember that show? It was a lot of fun to watch besides Ultraman, Romper room, and Captain Kangaroo.

It's Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, because it is entertaining for all ages if some people would just give it a CHANCE and open-mindedly watch it. I bet they would like it. This show teaches valuable life lessons and I learn new things from it, for example, how things are made in a factory. I still love watching it.
