no,they are the superstition.i don't mean to hurt anyones faith but in this 21st century where science has developed sooo much we can't belive in such things!
i'm not saying that all our traditions r wrong bcoz it can't be neglected that our forefathers were gr-8 scientists and that we can see in diff. rituals like sunbath(suryasnaan)they have been scientifically proven things bt. some of them r really idiotic like that of kalli billi.....etc.
so i believe that one shud put his/her brain and then only follow the traditions.

If u are a hindu, ur religion tells u that the planets are to be worshipped as Gods, u should believe it. No one knows for sure what is right in this world. All the scientists have just formulated theories, that may or may not be true. I am a hindu, and I believe in everything that my religion teaches me. u should do too and if the religion says that pluto is a planet then it is a planet. I am a science student also, but my religion explains everything different to what the scientists explain. But then almost all the brilliant scientists like Newton and the rest were very religious ppl who believed in their religion. So we should also believe.

first of all
if your talking about india
then i dont think we pray to pluto at all
see
i find it something like this
we take into account nine celestial bodies out of which 7 are planets [ the first 7]
and then the sun and moon
nowhere do we pray for pluto
als i believe the indian astronomers had already defined the planets in such a way that we knew that even neptune isnt a planet
thousands of years back we had made these discoveries

Don't stop praying for Pluto! Apparently the whole solar system may be reclassified with Pluto remaining as a 'Pluton' (I think), that is, a smaller planet, along with three more in the same category. So we'll have 12 in all.

Well. Look at this way.. The earlier PLUTO may have been wrongly named in the first place! There is a real PLUTO elsewhere which is yet to be identified.
When we can treat certain humans as Gods - by choice or by compulsion.... is there anything wrong in treating distant Planets as Gods. They have powers... It is only our limited capabilities prevent us from accepting their Godliness!

Do you know that we have 53 planets? Do you pray for all of them... Oh my god... weird.
8 planets
1 pluto - removed from the list to dwarf planet
44 dwarf planets
Maybe your religion has to check and update how many planets to do pooja...

God in other words considered to be a super natural power which influence the human life and the nature. Since the Planets do the same to the Nature and the life on earth they are treated as God

Well according to mythology and religions, planets are considered gods but according to science and astronomy planets are celestial bodies merely revolving aroun the sun. i personally believe, they r gods because god is everywhere. in fact we humans are also various forms of gods .
