I dont know the origin but
'shop till u drop' means keep shopping until ur feets break

It is just a wordplay rhyming "shop" and "drop". It used to be "Sky is the limit", i.e., you have no problem with money to buy the whole caboodle you see. Now, it is until you get tired buying everything in sight.
