Lowering triglycerides doesn't require a highly specialized diet, and exercises is just as important or more so. The approach to lowering triglycerides is identical to the approach used to lower cholesterol, so look for recipes that are designed to lower cholesterol - there's all sorts of info you can find. In a nutshell, there's really only two main parts to a diet to lower triglycerides: (1) avoid saturated fats - a moderate amount of unsaturated fats are fine, and those with HDL cholesterol are even better; (2) avoid excess calories from sugars and carbohydrate, which translates into elimination of sugary snacks and drinks between meals; a small amount is OK when eaten along with a meal.

Avoiding animal fats is your best option. At the very least, eat lean cuts of meat. Oat bran is excellent in lowering triglycerides also. Cheerios, whole grain breads, and plenty of vegetables cooked in water or canola oil are your best bets..Do not use solidified fats such as shortening and avoid fast food burgers. Avoiding fried foods is a good rule of thumb..You can also look at the American Heart Association website for further suggestions. Good Luck!

the number one way my husband lowered his trygliceride count was to cut back on the bread. try that and see how that works for you and if your tryglicerides did not go down enough then you will have to get a list from your doctor on what you need to cut back on, i hope the simple way works for you.
