Digested molecules of food, water and minerals from the diet, are absorbed from the cavity of the upper small intestine. The absorbed materials cross the mucosa into the blood, and are carried off in the bloodstream to other parts of the body for storage or further chemical change. This process varies with different types of nutrients for example fibers are not absorbed. Different nutrients need different conditions to be properly absorbed in th body. All proteins are absorbed in the body but only 3 ounces of protein per day is actually required by the body so only that amount is utilized the other is expelled as waste. however it must be noted that the amount of nutrients required by the body includes uses for energy, bone and organ stimulation and a small percent for storage for example fat.
