I splashed petrol on my jeans yesterday when I was filling my car up and although I have put them through the washing machine several times, the smell is still there. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

wash them in coca cola. no joke. im a mechanic and i do it every week. works every time

You soak them overnight or for 12 hours in baby oil and water(rub the baby oil into the petrol splash too), then wash them using baking soda. Then wash them again using detergent.
Its a long way, but the only way I know.
I looked it up a while ago when I splashed petrol on a new suit.
It does work.

Try these:
1. Wash them in hot water with 1 cup of vinegar.
2. Hang them on the line.
3. Wash them in warm hot soapy water and use Febreeze Laundry Odor Eliminator

Spray thoroughly with Febreeze and hang them outside until well dry. You may have to do this twice, but Febreeze takes most nasty smells.

Try another wash then another then another THEN buy new ones it there done ..
