Currently scientist have been able to get a standard mouse to live 4 1/2 yrs old, that's the equivelant of a human living to be 140-160 years old. If we are able to extend our lives to that amount of time, how do you think society will change? Will it change the dynamics of marriage and family? What about education and the job market? Is it really a good thing by almost doubling our lifespan?

What will happens is there will be a lot more people in general. Retirement age will increase to at least 100 years out of necessity (can't work for only 40 years if you expect to live 160). Natural resources will be used up more quickly, and the world will be more crowded in overall (this means more people will die in natural disasters etc). Housing prices will skyrocket as elderly people don't die and keep living in their houses.

Life insurance and health care companies, whose equations and business models are built around life expectancy in the 70's will have to break their contracts or go out of business.

Eventually, we would adjust, and then our children will wonder what it was like when people only lived to their mid 70's, like we wonder about people in the 1700's living only into their mid 40's or whatever.
