I would recommend taking an online course. You need to decide what type of programming you want to do and stick with it. Once you have learnt that language, learning other is a lot easier as there are many similarities between them...the trouble with being a novice is that it is easy to mix up the diferences between the languages and get very 'buggy'!

I have used EClasses via the International Webmaster Association and have found them to be excellent courses and great value for money. An introductory course will last about 6 weeks.

If you're willing to do something a little outdated, I would recommend ActionScript 2. ActionScript 3 is the current version of the language, and it should be just as easy to pick up. However, I was able to make a quick and simple game in around a week knowing nothing at all beforehand with a tutorial from Kongregate (see sources). Their tutorial is great for beginners, and although the program they use is expensive, there is a trial version of it. Hopefully this will help you to "get your feet wet" with programming, as they say. Good luck! ~Jacob

Reading alot of tutorials and of course books, with lots of patience and practice, you can learn any computer programming, I must say when I tried to learn c++ it was quite difficult, Couldn't even comprehend what the code meant.

Only you have the answer. Same as anything else, if you have the interest and discipline to learn, I don't see why not. Hope I am not sounding too Zen!
