There are a number of drugs which make you feel like throwing up when you drink alcohol (eg. Antabuse). These are designed to make drinking alcohol an unpleasant experience and so help people fight off their alcohol addiction.

But after a while some people get used to the effects and just carry on drinking (and, of course, they have to be willing to take the drug in the first place!).

In truth there is no cure for alcoholism - once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Alcoholics who give up drinking have to be on constant guard against lapsing back into drinking - it only takes one drink to get them started again. This takes tremendous will-power... never offer a reformed alcoholic even the tiniest drink!

1) conselling is the best remedy to get away from alcohol.
2) drugs are avialable that stops drinkers for some time e.g.: -antabuse
3) in ayurveda. rajasthan pharmacy in mumbai gives a kind of medicine (not proved) that stops alcoholism in other ways...like vomiting as soon as you drink alcohol, dysentry, etc. which can hamper your health. the medicine has not effect if you do not drink alcohol.

There are "medicines" that you can take that will make you feel terrible if you drink, they can be quite hazardous to your health though. Some may even cause a person's death if he/she drinks after taking it, they are used mainly to prevent alcoholics from drinking.

To cure alcoholicism I recommend counselling, it is truly the best remedy.

Yeah there's this thing called Antabuse or something like that but you can't combine it with alcohol, that would kill you. On the other hand if the person doesn't want to be cured, nothing will help.

Let me tell you story told by Acharya Rajneesh (Osho)

Some persons, when they get up from bed in the morning, they feel urge to smoke and every morning they start with smoking. Some people feel urge to chanting god's name . I am not saying that smoking is bad or good, chanting is good or bad eighter.

I am also not asking you to give up smoking or chanting.

All I am saying is HABIT IS BAD. GIVE UP THE HABIT.

When I read this story, I gave up smoking. I was chain smoker.

Science may one day find a cure, but it hasn't done so yet...I might have read that someplace ;)

There is no pill to take. (What the hell is wrong with people wanting to taking something to "fix" everything that is wrong with them?)

There are groups out there...Annonymous groups...who can help. Seek one out.

NOW WOULDN'T THAT BE AWESOME!!!

They can send a man to the moon, but this crisis, they cant help.

Actually there is a drug, that when taken, makes an alcoholic violently ill when taken, thus deterring them.

However, they have to take it.

Might not be your kind of thing but a mushroom trip can make you see things in whole new perspective (yes afterwards as well).
Seeking help is probably the best idea though.

A cure means "permanently fixed". There are treatments, but as of yet there are no cures.
