There are sooooo many volunteer opportunities in San Diego for people with different kinds of interests and skills, but I really like Volunteer San Diego. Here's their website:

They have "flex" projects, one-time only projects and special events, youth-friendly projects, family-friendly projects, and group volunteering activities. You can search their database by volunteer activity type, or you can view their calendar for a list of events by day. You have to attend an orientation before you can participate in a flex project, but the orientation is very short and painless. Happy volunteering!
