could be. is it central air or a window unit? if its central change filters and maybe call someone to clean out the duct work, not cheap but really can save your health, if its a window unit, i would throw it out and buy a new one. something is wrong with it.

Your problem is one that you must approach in a methodical way. You can thousands of dollars and not get any relief. Several people have followed your lead and are suggestin you change the AC, when the AC might not be the cause of the problem. You state that you moved into new house five months ago. Was this a new structure or a used home that was new to you? If it a new structure, it is unlikely that the AC is the problem but you could have the installer check out the unit to determine if it was properly installed. There are many substances used in home construction that could be causing allergic reactions, e.g. insulation. Consult with someone who specializes in this area and good luck.

Yep. You should get your ac vents and ducts cleaned by a company that does that .If that doesn't work you can buy a special uv light thingamajig( I forgot what it's called, lol) that treats bacteria and mold by hooking on to the ac 's main unit . IT works great by the way.We had to do this because nothing worked to get rid of the moldy smell.
