My cousin has fallen pregnant as a result of one of her one night stands. She has asked if i would take her the 6 hour round trip to get an abortion. This is where it gets tricky. I personally don't believe in abortions unless under extreme circumstances such as rape etc however I have no issues with what others want to do to their bodies I just don't think i could play a part in this abortion. It is her choice what she wants to do with her child. Do you think I am being a bit irrational by refusing to take her to this clinic? This isn't her first and she also has a 3yr old daughter...I'm confused morally and emotionally so if anyone could clear the air for me it would be greatly appreciated.

If you are not feeling comfortable with her decision then you shouldn't take her don't throw away your morals for someone else like you said it isn't her first and if she isn't that young and she sleeps around well it is not your problem.

But

if you want to help go for it but don't ever hurt your self emotionally, physically, mentally etc for someone elses problems

good luck :D

I actually went through a similiar situation with a good friend of mine. I do not believe in abortions but she had her mind made up. As with you, I wrestled with the decision to take her for a long time, I wanted to be there for her but at the same time, I had to be true to my beliefs. I made sure that one of her other friends was there to take her to the clinic, and I was always there for her afterwards... like you said, it's her body and her decision, and you can support her without supporting something that you don't believe in.

I think (and in my case I know) if you go against your morals on this it will be in the back of your mind for a long time. The question is if your cousins immediate future is important enough to you to live with that.

Gee, I don't know....seems she should just let this kid come to
full term, and give it up for adoption?? THAT should teach her
to use birth control. But if she begs for your help, I would help.
Don't feel guilty. That does nothing. She has to live with her
choices. Life is not always pretty. You have to realize that fact.
Help her deal with it. Much Luck to U...and her.

You are making the issue complicated intentionally. If you do not beleive in abortions, you should not beleive in it come what may be. You cannot have double standards for your self and for others.
Its like saying, if I steal its correct, but others must not.
I think you should have got the solution, for the self complicated issue.

Don't take her. Don't get involved. If she dies from complications you will be involved and question/investigated by the police.
