The most possible reason may be that your hard disk is corrupted or your boot sector is damaged by a virus. If windows tries to boot up, then it may be possibly due to a driver or registry corruption. If the second is the case then you are OK - Press F8 on boot and select "Use last good configuration" or something like that.

Otherwise, the best bet maybe to use a repair tool like System Mechanic or Ontrack Systemsuite. If that does not work you may have to reinstall the OS. If that also does not work then you may have to replace the hard-disk,

whe starting to boot tap the f8 key, highlight the directory services restore and than keep going and see if that works if not hit f8 on boot up again and try to do the last know good configuration...do the directory services restore first.

Probably reinstall windows..
