I am not rich by any means. I would be classified in the upper lower class. My daughter, last year, was in the federal "Head Start program as well as free lunch". I am paying into the system, and illegals that are using borrowed (stolen or bought) social security numbers, to show that they paid into the system, are taking the benefits that I as a true, hard working, Legal American citizen have worked for my entire life. I have come to terms with the fact that Social Security will not be available to me when I come to age to receive the benefit "That comes out of my paycheck every week", but is available to people that cheat the system, enter the country illegally, and use the tax money that I pay every week to pay for housing, food, health benefits, and education, that "I myself" cannot get. It seems to me that the federal govenment is aiding and abetting known felons. Whether or not it is fair treatment or peoples views are to help out the immigrants, it is still a felony.

If I were to help out a person that had commited a felony, whether they were innocent or not, I would still be charged with aiding and abetting a known felon. How does the government granting aid to people committing these crimes, "no matter what your view is on illegal immigration" any less a crime? And further more, If states base a large portion thier economy on an illegal activity, are they not just as responsible? It's easy to convict an individual, but at what point do we say to the state or federal government, "How is that any different than a mother providing shelter for her son that is a known felon"? Just because states are free to govern over thier territory, does not mean they have the right to violate federal law. I am all for the fair treatment of all, but when anyone who feels like taking my hard earned rights steps in without resistance and takes what I have given to this country, I feel like my contribution to my country is being sold to the lowest bidder.

You can call me racist if you want, but ( NOT ALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTANTS ARE OF THE SAME RACE!!!!!). They are of all races. This has become a Mexican issue, and though they may be the majority, the Mexican illegal immigrants are not the only contributors. If I were labled a racist, I would be oppressing my own people. I am proud of my people. I would never say anything degrading about them. And just to keep in the interrest of fair play, I will keep my people general. We are AMERICAN, plain and simple. The fact of the matter is, I work, and someone else takes the money away (that I never see on my paycheck, that could put my child into college some day)!!! I know that the illegal immigrants do work hard, and have a different work ethic than most Americans, but there is a way for them to become legal. I served 8 years in the US Navy, 4 years more than it took to become a legal resident. The government bends over backwards to help peolple legally get into the country.

Because we've made it too easy to get a handout.

I think we need to take these people that are living off the government (not just the illegal immigrants) and utilize them as labor. "Here's your check, and here's a shovel. The road crew supervisor is over there, he'll show you how to patch the holes in the highway."

We're paying them anyway...why not make them work for the government for the money?

I agree. Whether or not people agree with the problem, it is still a federal offense. The federal government should not be providing benefits to felons. I am in the same situation where I cannot get any federal aid because I am a white male. I work 100 + hours a week, and barely see my son. I have my parents looking after him for me while I work and watch large portions of my paycheck go to taxes and social security that I know is funding illegal activity and providing funds to those who sneek into this country and yell "HEY, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA GIVE ME FOR ALL MY HARD WORK?". Just to let you know, I was watching 2 shows. One was 30 days about a minute man moving in with a family of illegals, and the other was Cops. On 30 days, the family was hard working and claimed that they contribted to society by doing jobs that Legal Americans wouldn't do. The other "COPS" was about a riot that broke out in California where a farm owner gave the jobs of the illegal immigrants to legal American citizens at minimum wage. The illegl immigrants roited and destroyed half the farm in protest of the job loss. I keep hearing about the willing to do what AMERICANS wont do speech, but when it comes down to it, I will do anything to feed my family. I just so happen to live in So Cal, and work on one of those farms. I did it the legal way, and I pay into the system, but I am not elligable for the benefits because I am a legal US citizen. Maybe I should move to Mexico, steal a social security number, and live off the US government for the rest pf my life. I have been told by my social worker that I could, and that many of my brothers are doing just that. How is that fair? Why should my new home have to provide for my old home that none of the people are willing to stand up against. The United States of America is the only thing keeping Mexico from revolting. They provide over 75% of the economy. The US is what keeps Mexico alive. I'm not saying it is right, but there is a right way to do things, and the government is aiding and abeding known felons. I know that if the US government made it manditory for people to be US citizens before they could work, and receive benefits, we would have less illegals, and more "LEGAL" immigrants, that would actually be paying into the system.

I know exactly how you feel I was unemployed and it was almost impossible to get my daughter on Healthy Families Medical coverage when I lost my insurance. I had to not claim my wife's income because that along with my unemployment checks would put us over the limit for the benefit. And she makes less than $9.00 an hour. I didn't like doing it but I had no other choice. I know that is how illegals and even some legal Mexican immigrants do it. There is a family down the street with 4 kids that get free school breakfast and lunch and they are all on Medi-Cal or Healthy Families, both parents drive new cars, they just painted their house and they both work at the same place. I give my daughter lunch money it only costs $2.00 a day for 4 days ( one day is a minimum day that ends early no lunch), And I drive an old car and my wifes is a 2002. I didn't qualify for Medi-Cal so I have no insurance so I'm screwed if I get sick. But it's fine to give Medi-Cal to illegals, just not to American citizens that have had some bad times and whose wages are being depressed by illegals in the work place. I am so damn sick of it I don't know what to do. I can't dsay anything or I'll be called racist can't start shooting em cause that will land me in jail and the damn government doesn't care. So what are we to do?

The federal head start program and the free lunch program probably save billions of dollars in the long run by preventing many problems from developing.

It makes better economic sense to actually help the poor, even the illegals, rather than deprive them of basic needs. Most illegals have a pretty sound work ethic - they do jobs a lot of americans wouldn't do.

If you are really concerned about the US economic situation, you might want to object to the trillion dollars that is being spent on the war in Iraq, or the corporate fraud such as Enron, or the savings and loan fiasco of years past.

Well, if that is how you feel, just know that you are the better person for WORKING for what you have gotten and you did not cheat. And remember not everyone that isn't white is stealing social security numbers. I agree, that those who are STEALING ss# are definately in the wrong. However, think of who the free lunch is going to. It is the child, not the adult. So, if they stopped getting the free benefits, it would only hurt the child. Every child has the right to an education, safety, food, clothing, and all the basic needs. Consider it a donation.

what, you think they haven't been working? they have, most of them since they were small, in lousy conditions, with bad food, poor sanitation, little schooling, and no help from the government. when they get too old to work, they'll be left to be supported by their family or die. where are their benifits? why, just because you were lucky enough to be born in the US, should you be entitled to special 'benifits' that almost no one else in the world gets?

The irony of life is that those who worked do not get the benefits while those who just came for luck was immediately provided.
