life's not fair, but money is the name of the game. Professional athletes are a magnet for people to come and see do what they do best. The salaries keep going higher and higher. Basketball isn't as physical as football, but over 100mil contract in the NBA is common while i think one person in the NFL, Peyton Manning has a 100mil contract. In baseball, a few people have over 100mil. A-rod for the Yankees has a 200mil contract, which is the biggest in professional sports. I am NOT very impressed by him. It's a money game. It makes the world go around. The owners get richer, the players get richer, and the families who go to see the game get poorer. Check out the website and you'll see that for the Arizona Cardinals and the Denver Broncos preseason game, coming up this thursday, the lowest price for PARKING is $14.00. The most expensive seat is $289.00, because it's very close to the field. I don't know what other sites might charge. I guess it fluctuates. It's ridiculous! You work a 40-hour week to pay your bills, and enjoy life a little. You pay $289 to see a 3 hour football game. It's a preseason game, to top it off! Terrible!!

What is fair? What is unfair? The people in sports as well as movie stars, singers and certain bands do get paid enormous salaries - but that is because they work hard and people are willing to pay high prices to see them in action. It is to their credit that they maintain their popularity and bring in the money. The neat thing about this country is that anyone, rich or poor, can obtain the status. However, while many would like to be a "star" only a few are chosen. That's life.

It's not fair. I can see paying someone for what they're worth to your organization, but.. An average family cannot afford to attend a NFL game, or a Boston Red Sox game without sacrificing something. It's a shame.
And it's not confined to sports--it's the entire entertainment industry. I was reading recently where a U2 concert ticket goes for about 120 bucks. The Beatles on the other hand, sold tickets to the equivalent to 31 bucks in today's dollars.
Just try and go to the cinema. Buy a popcorn and soda. Wow.

Of course it isn't fair. They have a talent they can use, and maybe we don't, so no, not fair. People like to live through sports players and so their big pay is supported by all the fans. But sheesh, I could use it too, folks.

Professional athletes are way over paid. Doctors earn less and they are saving lives! There are a lot of nobler professions than being a professional athlete.
