I suspect that i may be pregnant. the first day of my last period was july 18 I took an ept test and it initially came out negative, but 15 min later it clearly gave me a positive result? I assumed it was negative, but to be on the safe side I took another test a few days later and the same thing happened. I know that hcg levels vary and if indeed pregnant I would be 5.5 weeks along. At how many weeks will a significant amount of hcg will register. Ive had false negatives happen to me before, but never a false positive

Ive been told the only way you can have a falso positive is if something else is going on down there, unless you waited too long - 10 mins after test was taken, then it might come out a false positive... go see a doctor, I would put money on the fact that you are pregnant if your doing it right! Congrats I think!

False negatives are common but false positives are very rare. From my personal experience. I had a test done at the doctors office. It was a urine test. It came out positive. I was 4 weeks and a couple of days. I didn't believe them so I went to the drug store and bought a home pregnancy test and took it that same day. it came out positive right away. I waited a couple of days and took it again. It still came out positive immediately. Also the first time I took the test at the docs office and at home I wasn't even late yet. my period was not due for another 2 days. So if I were you I would go to the doctor and get a blood test done there. GOOD LUCK.

Ok so you were due for your period around 8/18. So thats about 8 days late give or take so a home test should work. If you are getting goofy results with the plus minus tests I have a suggestion... go get one of those digital tests... they cost about the same and its pregnant or not pregnant.... Good Luck

You have the right levels the first day you miss your period when you're using home pregnancy tests. Looks like you'll have to go to the doctor. Maybe somethings up and you should look into it right away. This happened to my sister-in-law when she had an ectopic pregnancy. I'm not trying to scare you but just to make you realize not to mess around. The sooner you know what's going on the better for both of you.

If you take a test and it is negative, but look at it again a while later, sometimes it will appear positive. This is just from the
urine evaporating. (i think! it is refered to on parenting forums as an 'evap line')
If you read the directions and it is not positive within the specified time, you are not pregnant. If it turns positive within 10 minutes - you are pregnant!

i have heard that false positives almost never happen - be sure to the test first thing when you get up as that is when the concentration of hcg will be the highest

Testing the first pee of the day is usually the best one. I would wait another week and try again. You could be pregnant but if in doubt see your doctor.

I would instead get to the doctor pronto! You will have to go anyway if it turns out you are pregnant.
