Im pretty sure my niece knows but we all know how some kids ask these questions just because. Anyways what would you have said? I kinda laughed in my head because I knew my mom didnt know what to say.

I would have told her to go ask her mom. I think your mom had it right in not telling her. It wasn't her place to explain it though I would have had a hard time if I were you, not sticking my head in and asking her when should she (your niece) be worrying about it? just to make her squirm!!

Well this did happen to my wife and I and I think my daughter was about 12 years old. We were taken back by the question but we did answer her question directly and matter of factually. I think it was wrong that your mother didn't answer the question as simply as possible. She could have told her that an orgasm is the feeling that happens when couples make love and it is done in a loving manner and correctly. An orgasm is the perfect ending to a great couple love making session. This it.

Parent just be honest about sex with your kids. This need to be started at young ages and continue all the way up to adulthood.

No criticisms, but I would have wished that your mom had answered her. When a child approaches someone with a question, it is also an expression of trust. If we can build on that trust, then we can have a excellent rapport with the child, which goes a long way in managing the growth of a child than strict rules.

Parents should tell their kids what they should know. "nothing to be worried about?" They are setting up their kids to not ask anymore because they never tell them the skinny. We are responsible for teaching our kids! They will otherwise get disinformation on the playground and then 2 years down the road, they will ask something shocking and horrible, because you didn't prepare them for anything. Suck it up and tell them the truth. They can take it fine, it is just us who for some reason have a problem with it...

I don't know how or why an 11 year old would know what an orgasm is, but if a kid that young asked me, first I would want to know what they "think" it is....it's not always appropriate to explain things...it really depends on the individual.

I would tell my children the truth. I would rather them hear it from me then some kid at school. She obviously already has some knowledge but it might not be correct. Your mom needs to step up and answer the question.

Thats a hard one. I would tell truth but I dont know how much of the truth I would have told. Good for her though for feeling trustworth of an adult to ask them such a question.

Would've told her the truth....she already knows, if not she'll hear it in school. I rather have my children learn from me than to learn from their ignorant peers
