It IS possible but it is too complex for you to understand and it IS NOT the best way to begin with! It takes much setup and by the time you are done you will have paid the price of a cheap router in setup agony alone! Buy a cheap wired router! It is far easier and much more reliable! You will also need network interface cards on your two systems unless they are network ready. You can find this out by looking for a jack on the computers that will look like a phone jack only larger. Someone above stated using a special usb cable but they are three times more expensive than a router and use what is called internet connection sharing which is a BIG PAIN!

You don't need to use a router to connect both the PC of yours to internet instead you could install an extra lan card on the PC which have internet connection then connect with that new lan card your 2nd PC and share the internet connection.

U cud also use proxy server and hub or switch to connect both the PC to internet.

Connect your main internet connection to hub or switch and from it connect both the computer with the lan cable. Here you don't need to have extra lan card.

It's possible to create a home network using a special USB cable (not just any USB cable!)

You can also have a VPN but that's not direct, it touches on an external medium before it gets to you. Both computers require internet access.

Router is the way to do it.

Think you can do a spliter too if you want, but wouldn't recommend it.

Go with the router, because thats what it is designed for.
