In additon to the correct answers, nobody has mentioned the dominions of the British Commonwealth or the British colonies. As soon as Britain declared war Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the colonies were also automatically at war and had to send troops thousands of miles away to Europe. These countries were very proud of the role but also sought and received control over their own defence and foreign policies after the war.

The WWI Allies were British Empire, France, Russian Empire, and later the United States and the switch sides of the likes of Italians.

The Allied Powers were France, the Russian Empire, the United Kingdom (and it's colonies i.e. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.), and the Kingdom of Italy, and later also the United States in 1915.

great britain, france and russia started the war in aid to serbia. belgium, italy and the united states joined lately, and also a lot of other countries joined the allies during the war but without giving great help (except maybe for japan fighting againt the german possessions in the pacific)

anyways, to cut it off.... the allies were.... the winners!
