Pop you can usually whistle the melody. Usually a Star vocalist
singing a story.

Rock is normally like a wall of sound coming at you. Vocals and screaming are hard to understand.

Jazz patterns keep changing in the song and that makes it hard to whistle. Quite often not a lot of singing

OK,we shall do this the easy way First pick jazz out. It is the one with lot of jazz juitar playing in teh background, you would listen to very restrained percussion but good amount of keyboards. Refer to the movie chicago. Then pull pop out of the lot. it the one with more flashy vocals, mix of guitars, persussion and last is keys. ref the fashionable popular music here, which you tend to not like after some time, ref to avril lavigne, back street boys and the lot. Then there is ROCK, this is where you hear most of guitar and percussion, can range from heavy metal to soft, but is more timeless than any. you could refer to a decent amount of U2 here, This was a very general starters point of view, though there is a lot more to it, as most of what you hear now is usually a blend of 2 ormore genres. And then there are many more ; rnb, reggae, hip hop, rap etc

A Jazz is an original American musical art form originating around the start of the 20th century in New Orleans, rooted in Western music technique and theory and marked by the profound cultural contributions of African Americans. It is characterized by blue notes, syncopation, swing, call and response, polyrhythms, and improvisation. Jazz has been described as "America's Classical Music," and started in saloons throughout the nation.

Pop music is a genre of popular music distinguished from classical or art music and from folk music [1]. The term indicates specific stylistic traits, but the genre also includes artists working in many styles such as rock, hip hop, rhythm and blues (R&B), and country, making it a flexible category. The expression "pop music" may also be used to refer to particular subgenres (within the pop music genre) that are in some cases referred to as soft rock and pop/rock.

Rock is a form of popular music from the late 20th century which typically features a vocal melody (often with vocal harmony) that is supported by accompaniment of electric guitars, a bass guitar, and drums, often with a strong back beat. Keyboard instruments such as organ, piano, or synthesizers are often used in many types of rock music. While brass instruments, such as saxophone were common in some styles in earlier development of rock, they are less common in the newer subgenres of rock music since the 1990s. The genre of rock music is broad, and its boundaries loosely-defined, with related genres such as soul and funk sometimes being included in the definition of the term.

A major formative influence on rock was rock and roll, and rockabilly.

Its a very good question, which comes to mind too often. I think Pop is a soft music. Jazz is a western classical music and rock is very hard music full of drums andelectric guitars

A major formative influence on rock was rock and roll, and rockabilly. In the 1960s, as British rock developed, the term "rock music" became popular. With the "British Invasion" this reinvigorated musical style spread back to the United States, and became an international cultural phenomenon with considerable social impact. Rock has has evolved into a multitude of highly-varying styles with widespread popularity

Good question, the difference is in the notes you play, and after giving it much thought, I think I can join them all by one man. Johann Sebastian Bach.
Many of Bach’s musical themes have become the "handbook" for modern day pop music and to write a pop song all you have to do is follow these musical rules.
Jazz came along and did everything but follow this "handbook" making it, in my opinion, the greatest act of musical rebellion.
Then came Rock music, and followed both Bach's "handbook" and jazz's rebelliousness.

Pop is basically just singers singing songs, with little to no musical value
Rock is too wide to discuss here, but Rock n Roll is a combination of good songwriting and good music
Im fairly new to Jazz, but what i do know is they use a wider variety of instruments and they are often instrumentals

pop = anything that is current that is easy on the ears and the general society accepts.

rock = an emotional yet rythmic driving sound (alot of bass, and it sends the messages in the lyrics home deep into the soul)

jazz = soothing, but yet the instrumental interludes you can feel talking to you without words being sang.
