Izzie leaves the hospital (or she says she does) but she stays on the show. Katherine Heigl says she would be good working for Doctors Without Borders or a free clinic. But Izzie lives with Mer and George.
Just as a little fun fact...back with the quints, Izzie's quint (Emily) was the only one that didn't survive. And Izzie is the only one of the five interns that didn't survive (as of now)...just a little symbolism!

Izzie is not leaving the show. Apparently she will be getting a pretty bad "tongue-lashing," but otherwise she's still a doctor.
