Imitates in what way? It depends on the nature of it. Let's be real, all cultures crossover and overlap. I want to be and want you to be open-minded. You can't watch a tv, let alone a tv commercial without anyone being "hip", which is attributed to African-Americans. If they imitate blacks in a smart way, then thats just smarts. Not a black attribute, but a PEOPLE attribute. So, if they imitate blacks by using their hip-hop, do YOU think that it is stupid? Assuming that you are speaking about hip-hop imitation. Here's the deal hip-hop is a culture. Culture is the society that you live in. People pick and choose what type of culture or society they think is right for them. There are all sorts of cultures: grunge, rock, rap, religious, sports-oriented, educational, etc. America is culture. And, America has it's own form-which is a mixture of just about everything. I would bet that everyone on the entire planet has imitated someone at one point or another. And today's society world wide wants to be more American. It doesn't make it right OR wrong. And that's just the short answer for what I think. So, try to stay open minded and not judge too much.

I have never heard of such a thing. That is interesting. Some Asians may feel that imitating black people is the best way for them to fit into the culture around them if there are alot of black people that they like and look up to. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I mean, when you hang out with certain people groups with their own sub culture, accent, dress etc...you do tend to imitate them. If one culture is more dominant - it doesn't matter what nationality people are - they will start to imitate the dominant subculture or the one that they believe is the most desirable. I have white relatives who have hung out with black people for so many years that their dress, accent and everything else is like the black subculture. That is who they are and the lifestyle and subculture they have chosen. But, if people are immitating people they have never met - that's really silly - it's like - just be yourself. It's all kind of silly though - I mean in the US - there are alot of African Americans who have the traits of the dominant white culture they are a part of too. It's really awesome how people have begun to mix and blend as we become more and more internationally connected. It's like - don't pass judgment on people according to this kind of thing it's the natural result of people starting to accept others who are different from them more and more. Exploring other subcultures is really fun.

I know exactly what your talking about.. I spent a year and a half in Korea and saw it first hand...I think alot of it has to do with the fashion industry..alot of urban gear is made in asian countries and they tend to purchase it really cheap...I think its hilarious to see them like that!!! But asians are usually more conservative in how they dress, its more the youth that tend to dress hip hopish.

If they want to move to the ghetto and smoke crack its their business.
They can stand on the corner and sell drugs all they want.
One more loser on public assistance won't make much difference.
Who am i to say how many babies they should have before they're 16.
I just do not like it when they ask me for money standing outside the store.

all people, sex, race, nationality, and creed are free to be what they want to be,......if it fills their cup then so let it be,.......anybody that judges someone on finding their own personal flavor of happiness should look at themselves in the mirror and mind their own biz.
the thing that makes this world so wonderful is the mixture of diversities and the countless melting of positive cultures and fun creative ideas whether it be in food, music, dance, clothes, cars, literature, and family values......the world is a melting pot and it is just getting rid of the impurities in the heating process.

I think it is pathetic and sad when people are so unsatisfied with who they are that they feel the need to pretend to be like someone else. It is immature and shows that they need to learn self-respect.

To be honest, I really don't raise a big stink over it. Although Rajiv Surendra(Kevin G) from "Mean Girls" was hilarious.
