It means they were unable to see them on ultrasound.

That does indeed mean that the ovaries were not seen on the ultrasound. There can be many reasons for this. I don't know your age, but as we get older, the ovaries are harder to see on u/s. If your bladder was not full enough, bowel can "hide" the ovaries. If you are at a point in your menstrual cycle when there are not follicle (functional) cysts on the ovaries, they can be harder to see. Did you have a transabdominal scan or a transvaginal scan? We can usually see the ovaries with vaginal u/s when an attempt to see them transabdominally is not effective.

If we cannot see the ovaries, it is almost a good sign. If there was a large growth on them, they would be near impossible to miss seeing.

It means they did not see the ovaries on the scan. It is possible the tech was new, did not place the dopler correctly or that they are just hiding. You also could have other issues going on, esp if you have pain, like adhesions moving them where they normally would not be.
I would just address it with your doctor when you go to see them or give a call if you do not have a post scan visit.
Good luck to you... and PS_ don't bother asking the tech, they are NOT supposed to relay any info. ><>

Exactly that. The tech didn't see your ovaries. Don't read into the situation too deeply. When you see your dr for follow up, ask him/her. It could just mean you shoulda taken a crap that morning. Really.

they were not seen by the technician who did the ultrasound. Probably your doctor will order another test. Sometimes they are at an angle that renders them difficult to see.
