What is the difference between PDF and word format?

PDF is Printable Document Format so as the name suggest ..it is a printable file and not editable ..secondly it is a compact file..On the other hand Word format i editable and comparitively bigger in size.....but have lot more features than PDF.while sending as attached to a mail..PDF is better..so entirely up to you whichever wy you wnt to use.

The key difference between a word file and PDF file format is that the word format settings may be out (such as page size etc.)when running on another system, while the PDF format settings never change to when running to another computer. Due to this reason it is called as Portable file.

A PDF is a printing-in-software file; now they tackled on simple editing meant as filling out forms but the idea stays the same, a finalized printed page in an electronic form.

A MS Word file is a document that is not finalized and meant to be edited, Microsoft would prefer that editing is done within another copy of Microsoft Word, but it is still not finalized.

Well, actually PDF file can be edited as well.

I beleive most people on the web used PDF file to distribute content is because of the widely spread of the Adobe Acrobat free Reader.

To make it simple to understand, a word file is a text file that can be edited. A pdf file is a scanned image of a text file or picture. It actually becomes a picture of a document and can no longer be edited!
