Gravity is a measurement of the bending of space near physical masses. If the mass becomes large enough then the "gravity well" becomes so deep and steep than nothing (including light) which comes close can escape. This is called a black hole.
In terms of the physical universe, there is some debate as to whether the black hole itself is a part of the universe or if the known universe stops at the "event horizon."

The key to the universe is the vacuum but, no body likes to talk about it.
The vacuum created movement and gravity. Movement and gravity created light and magnetism.
