my son is about to turn one on the 29th. we are getting him a baby laptop..well its not really a laptop but its a look alike one that has all these buttons for him to push and stuff.

my wife and i work from home a lot. often i put him on my lap and let him see what i'm doing. he loves to try to get at the buttons. so hence the idea. i'm also getting him a toy record player (i have turn tables set up in the other room-and he looooooooooooooooves to watch me mix and play with the records.)

a picture of him playing with his own keyboard i got him can be seen on my 360 page.

Give the parents a gift certificate to create a photo montage video of the boy's first year. They start at about $200, so find some other friends to go in with to buy it.

Otherwise... they're too young to appreciate toys, so put money in the kid's college fund.

I would not worry about a gift. Just make a big party for him. The first party you'll always remember. Invite all your friends and family members.

Since winter is coming, get some warm clothes, maybe another warm blankie. Toys. A new toy doesn't hurt.

At 1 years old, I personally don't see what the big deal is. Just celebrate the fact that he is is now 1 years old. He is 1 years old, just a young toddler, if not still a baby.

Don't start spoiling him already.

what you want.
Something nice like a toy that won't harm him and that the mother thinks that is nice, because he is not going to remember, but the mother will.
