i dont think they do. all the money is in administration, not really in the classroom. i have seen schools, many schools, where students do not have enough books. not enough desks, i have seen them sitting on counter tops or the floor. no music or art or field trips....not enough money. and, schools spend a lot of money to pay for law suits. schools pay a lot for stupid things and they usually pay out instead of fighting because it will be cheaper or they are afraid they will lose. the kids suffer.

Because as a teacher these days, you need a masters and only start at like 30,000 in many districts. Then you might need to buy many supplies for your students that the district does not supply.
I am not a liberal though but am in education.

Because they piss the $$ away. It's not thiers after all.
I offered my services as consulatnat in the computer lab. I had just graduated from Univ of SoCal & was Sr. consultant in the Biz school computer center, highly over qual'd to help out in an elementary school. They truned me down because I said I prefered PC's & they only used Macs. So, they paid consultants instead of taking the free service & they spent much more money than they had to, on Macs instead of PC's.
When my children were in daycare, I couldn't get the teachers to close the door on the classrooms when the kids went out to the playground. W/ temps over a hundred outside they don't care about leaving the A/C on full blast & the doors open. They told me that they didn't care, because they didn't pay the bill. I told them that I DID pay the bill! They laughed & toldme tha tI could take the position of 'Door Monitor' if I wished.

Because it's a problem that teachers don't get paid enough when they have the huge responsibility of being in charge of a classroom and guiding kids' futures. Thanks to Bush the schools that are already behind are getting even furthur behind because they don't get enough tax dollars. It should really be called the "poor child left behind" act!

Because they don't. Everyone, cons or libs, should know that public education is underfunded.
It is usually funded by local taxes. Therefore, and obviously, the rich areas get more money than poor areas.

I don't know where you are...but here in our school system.....the teachers need the money to have proper materials.....and often like in our district, too often the "big wigs" get raises and the teachers don't, plus they cut programs like music......it all hurts the kids the most.

IT'S NOT ONLY THE LIBS. WE NEED MORE MONEY FOR THE SCHOOLS OF AMERICA. THEIR IS A SERIOUS BRAIN DRAIN IN THIS COUNTRY. WE GO TO OTHER COUNTRIES AND RECRUIT THEIR INTELLECTUALS TO LIVE AND WORK IN AMERICA. WE HAVE TO TEACH THE AMERICAN KIDS TO WANT TO LEARN THE SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS.

Because for decent books and technological services, the schools need money, even the schools that are doing well, because they want to be able to keep up, and reach every student.

My guess has always been that they aren't qualified teach. And, they would probably fail at any other job they had.
If they have a classroom and a salary, then there's enough money. Blaming the budget is the best excuse they have-and it's not even original.
Teaching is the biggest racket in the country.
