Could I have fluid build up? I'm recovering from a cold, but I have no pain in my ear so far. The pressure and slight hearing loss is driving me crazy. What should I do?

Yep--that's fluid in your inner ear. Sounds like an ear infection. They often accompany/follow colds. Get to a doctor and they will probably give you antibiotics. In the meantime, you can take a decongestant (sudafed pills or afrin nasal spray, ask your doc) to decrease the pressure and drain the fluid. Drinking hot fluids may also help open things up.

Go to an ear nose and throat doctor. You may have excess wax in your ear that can be flushed out. Very simple and painless. I had that when I was a kid. Get it checked out because it could be a couple of other things that affect the inner ear. My son has sinus problems that caused his ear drum to bow outward. He was put on an allergy nasal spray and antihistamine and it cleared up. Good luck.

It sounds like fluid build up. Best to go to the doctors and they could either give you anti-biotics to help it drain away, or syringe (?) your ears... this is where they clear out any exess fliud. I had my ears syringed a few years ago because of the same feeling... it was a relief to get rid of it.

Hi, I would try decongestants for a few days. I don't think antibiotics are necessary since it's probably not a bacterial infection of some sort.

could be sinuses too. sinus infections can do a world of things to you and look like another problem afflicting you.
