A Liberal is someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say, I am a "Liberal".

I am a Liberal: "Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion." "I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its stupidity. War settles nothing." "I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its stupidity. War settles nothing"

Electro-shock therapy aside, we Liberals should be proud of the things that define us.
I have often thought John Lennon's "Imagine" was a Liberal Anthem. I suspect a lot of conservatives would agree.
Thanks for throwing this one out there to remind us what we Liberals should stand for.
And yes, we Liberals think sex has an appropriate and healthy place in our society, even when it makes more conservatives.

A liberal is someone who is invested in misery and failure. A liberal is someone who is in constant search of a victim and in turn blames someone or something more successful for that victim's woes. A liberal is someone who firmly believes passing out condoms in schools is okay but someone spreading the word of God should be hung by a flagpole until dead. Liberals are single handedly responsible for 99.9% of the decay in the United States that you see today. A liberal is someone who actually believes that Bush is responsible for 9/11. A liberal is someone who wants to take every dime you worked so hard to earn, and give it away to people to lazy to earn it for themselves. The liberal has created the entitlement mentality in this country, and is directly responsible for the reactions you got from people in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina (remember that one..hey Uncle Sam, where's my free shzit?) A liberal is a part of a terminal cancer that has eaten away at the fabric of this great nation for the last 60 years since FDR's New Deal. A liberal believes communism was a great idea, it just wasn't given enough time to take root and the wrong people were in charge of it. Next to terrorists, a liberal is the scourge of society and the ideology of filth, decadence and intolerance. Any questions???
PS John Lennon's "Imagine" song was a glorification of communism, since John Lennon was a card carrying member of the Communist Party.

In "The Federal Courts, Politics, and the Rule of Law," by John C. Hughes (published 1995), it says:
"In the contemporary political context, those who fear conformity have tended to describe themselves as liberal and have tended to applaud judicial 'protection' of human rights. Those who fear diversity have tended to call themselves conservatives and have been appalled by judicial 'usurpation' of the majority's discretion to form the kind of community it finds most conducive to its own happiness. The former tends to approve of the expansive theories of constitutional interpretation, while the latter tends to prefer the restrained theories of judicial review. These alignments are neither perfect nor inevitable, but the debate has surely been shrill."
Hence the fact that liberals threw a conniption fit when Ronald Reagan nominated Robert Bork to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Liberals don't believe in democracy, they believe in a judicial oligarchy. And they STILL believe in it even after the atrocity of Bush v. Gore.

Your liberal definition is concerned with some characteristics of a liberal. Liberalism could be a state of mind essentially allowing individual freedoms. Not even patronizing protection should be there.

That is your only "perception" of a liberal, and not a definition. There's a difference.
I am going to take what you've said and turn it into an accurate description:
A liberal is someone who looks ahead and continues to make silly errors and blunders, never learning from his past mistakes and that his way does not work. A liberal is someone who cripples and debilitates people under the guise of "helping them," and it only makes them more dependent upon them, and their sick, loathsome party, the Democrats.
Since that is what is meant by a "liberal," then you should be ashamed, not proud to admit to it.
Liberalism, once thought to be a mere political philosophy has now been recognized as a mental disorder, and the psychiatric community is to be commended for this great achievement. I hope that they can come out with preventative measures, and as for treatment for those afflicted, I undestand that Electroshock Therapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and drugs that enhance one's perception of reality work wonders.

This isn't a real question. I agree with the other person. You'll get non-liberals arguing with you and liberals saying that everything you said is great.
